Knightmare Tower Review

From Juicy Beast,  the creators of the addicting Burrito Bison and many other great games comes Knightmare Tower, an amazing take on the old formula of throwing games.

The setup of awesomeness.

The story set is incredibly surprising. You are a knight that has to save ten princesses being held hostage in a tower by a big bad villain. Yep. That's it. But boy, I must say, this one flaw is completely forgivable.

If you played Burrito Bison (and you should have) you will immediately recognize a lot of elements in the gameplay. Its a throwing game with tons of upgrades to unlock, with in-game quests that reward you with more gold, and with very clear objectives for you to clear until you finish the game.

But, and this is a very big but, the game field is vertical. You are shot from a big-ass rocket upwards, and its your objective to reach each princess at a time. Equipped with your trusty sword and armor, you will slice at upcoming enemies to gain speed and not to fall from the tower. If you fall however, your rocket will come to your rescue, only resulting in a loss of speed, that loss however can prove fatal if you accumulate more that two or three.

Super Sweet art!

And here is where this game really shines. Each type of enemy has different flight and attack patterns, and more or less life, meaning you need to adapt your strategy for each enemy. The incredible result is that, for the first time in a very very long time, you have a throwing game that takes skill and not just AFKing after launch for some gold farm.

I mean Burrito Bison dealt with this issue slightly by introducing the slam mechanism and the speed boosts that needed you to do something, but Knightmare Tower takes it to a whole new level. You can't take your eyes of the screen for a second if you want a flawless run, and the mechanic is really addicting and polished, its a true gem. And as if that was not enough, you have boosts you can grab in level and some nice mini-boss battle every once in a while. Not to mention, SPOILER ALERT: you have to fight an amazing and pretty challenging boss at the end of the tower, one that requires some equipment upgrades as well as some skill. Something unseen in this type of game.

Spoiler free upgrade menu.

It cannot be stressed enough how polished this game is. Everything you do results in a direct reward. Saving a princess by reaching a certain distance in the tower will unlock new elements to the gameplay and make it all the more satisfying. The game is huge, with a survival mode after you complete the story one, with more quests and practically infinite gameplay if you like the game as much as I did.

Summing it all up, this is a very rare game. One that breaks the mold and brings us something genuine and truly remarkable. The story is simple but that's a standard in this industry, and I will not penalize an arcade game for its story. So here it is, the first 10 in this blog. C'mon, stop reading and go try it out.

Game Rating: 10/10
